“Aja Malibu is on pristine land in the Santa Monica mountains, and when you are here you can feel the raw energy of the surrounding chaparral. The gardens have been created and maintained with so much intention, it’s not to be overwhelmed by the love and dedication with which it was created. The tribe here is composed of like-minded people, all committed to being the best people we can be, and all in wholehearted service to the vision of Aja and the guests we serve.
It’s amazing how our remote location and the atmosphere of Aja in general, creates a space where the energy that each person brings (both guest and employee) is so clearly noticable. This is exactly the foundation that is needed for deep spiritual growth to take place. It is also what makes the land so magickal, and what keeps it’s caretakers and guests in tune with the important things in life. Every single day I am grateful to come to ‘work’ and be of service to the vision that is Aja Malibu.”… Brandy
“Aja Malibu is more than a holistic hideaway it is a space carefully cultivated for individual and collective growth. As a member of the tribe, I am gifted the opportunity to work alongside an incredibly talented and heart-centered group of individuals with the same vision to heal. Consequentially, I am a benefactor of such intentions. Thus, my experience at Aja has been and continues to be Beyond Words. Aside from the oceanic views, nutritious teas and delicious treats, Aja offers an abundance of love, nature, support, and most importantly community. The energy is palpable and the raw chocolate is delicious!”… Alexa
“My time here has been a period of growth in multiple ways. My major role at Aja has been as the vegetable gardener for just about two years. I also assist other team members in the landscape department with various other tasks when needed. My time here has been a period of growth in multiple ways. Professionally, I have had the freedom and opportunity to experiment with different methods of gardening which have produced some great results which I have been able to utilize in my work outside of Aja. I have learned much about the Biodynamic philosophy as it pertains to gardening here as well.
I’ve also realized significant growth in my spiritual life during my time here. To be able to work in such a beautiful place each day is a real gift which has helped me to be much more present with the plants, people and land that I work with. I’ve learned to meditate more effectively too, which is something that I had tried in the past without much success so I feel like my mind has really been opened up to so many things here that I may never have experienced had I not come to work at Aja and for that I am truly grateful.”… Dwayne
“My experience at Aja has been magical. It is not a coincidence for anyone who is drawn to be here. It is all frequency and to get here is to travel at that frequency. Through my own awareness revelations occurred and things I was needing, wanting, or striving to be, all became a reality. My experience as a chef has been constant growth. I’m learning new things every day. Whether it’s incorporating foraged ingredients, getting creative with recipe development, or even the spiritual aspect. Nothing is stagnant, there is a natural flow here. The sense of community and teamwork has also been fulfilling. With work comes play and we express that together with potlucks, meditations and various types of ceremonial practices. Working at Aja is a gift and with that I am able to support others through my ultimate passion which is plant based cuisine. I love it!”… Lindsey
“My experience at Aja has been one of great and deep healing and purpose. I feel immensely grateful to be able to work in such a beautiful spot in the canyons where the energy is pumping and the plants are happy. My heart is so full that I get to work in an amazing apothecary creating herbal medicine as well as in our gardens gathering with care. The ritual work of creating the floral circles and care tending the sacred spaces is deeply gratifying as well. I love the connection of our tribe and the relationship building ceremonies and gatherings we have been doing. I feel so connected to everything at Aja..the team, the plants, the medicine work, the elements, and my inner purpose.”… Meaghan
“There is a quote from James Redfield which reads “Where attention goes energy flows, and where intention goes energy flows.” Two words which describe Aja to me are attention & intention. Attention to details, attention to the needs of the staff, guests, and environment, attention to the opportunity to create a beautiful space to facilitate the act of service. All of which are interwoven with the intention to support & nurture one’s self-empowering strengthening of your inner teacher. Staff & guests thrive in this space. Nature’s abundance surrounds. Laughter echoes the halls. A community flourishes.
I draw daily inspiration from the dedication & commitment to serve demonstrated by our visionary leader Inannya, and the entire team. I remain in gratitude & awe for the opportunity.”… Nicholas
“From my perspective, Aja reminds me of my homeland Guatemala. It is comforting for me to be caring for the land here just like I did growing up back home. I feel that cleaning the property, trimming plants, and catching and releasing the wildlife as if it were my own, is part of my purpose in life. We don’t use any chemicals on the property, so the land is pure. Everyone on our staff is committed to being the best person they can be; the people also have pure intentions. It pleases me to see people drinking the tea we grew, and enjoying the fruits of our labor in the garden.”… Victor
“My experience here at Aja has been one of beauty and tranquility. The people here all have undeniably beautiful spirits, and everyone here speaks from the heart. I am grateful to be a part of this team, eat the biodynamic food, and participate in the ceremonies. It is joy enough for me to care for these gardens, watch them flourish, and be of service in general to the Aja tribe and it’s guests.
It sure is nice to be able to see the sun going down from the mountains at the end of the day. Even though I have a long commute, I arrive home relaxed; without the typical stress that people live with on a day to day basis.” … Jorge
“Aja holds a sacred space that resonates physically, emotionally and spiritually. As a graphic artist and web developer, I’m honored to help contribute my visual and technical strategies in the digital realm. As a team member I continue to be inspired while working together to nurture and curate a powerful and life changing experience. It’s truly a pleasure to have this opportunity to co-create with others that are always imbued with joy, living from the heart, to carry forth an offering for guests to re-align to their optimal self and further integrate these practices into their life.” … Jeremy
“Working at Aja Malibu is a pure compilation of what I care about in the wellness space. To be able to work on a launch of a holistic wellness sanctuary and combine that with communications strategy is a defining moment for me professionally. When I say I work for wellness based conscious companies this is the gold standard supported by loving, team playing co-workers.” … Michelle
“Aja Malibu has been a wonderful blessing in my life. Not only is it idyllic in it’s setting in the beautiful Malibu mountains, but a true peace of heaven that offers love and support for the heart, mind and soul. When I first interviewed for my position I walked into this sanctuary of bliss filled with gentle music, wonderful smells of incense and could feel deep within the purity of the environment. I was then greeted and welcomed by the most kind, gentle and respectful staff. After our interview I didn’t want to leave and that is when I knew that this was where I needed to be… Aja felt like home. Since that first day I stepped into the world of Aja I have been guided by the most incredible staff one could ever dream of. Aja and all of it’s offerings became an instant family filled with acceptance and joy.
While working at Aja as the Guest Services Manager I have had the opportunity and pleasure of helping with a few guided tours of the property where I help answer guest questions and share a piece of the Aja experience with them. As we walk around the property and through the seven Chakra themed gardens, which you could literally meander through for days and days on end, you can only feel a sense of enlightenment by the incredible quietness and stillness that surrounds you. The flowers, plants, crystals, wildlife and insightful artifacts envelop you as you journey through this garden of bliss. The oxygenated pool located within the gardens is probably one of my favorite sanctuaries as it provides the clarity of water and the relaxation of it’s uniquely adorned and peaceful space. The extraordinary spa is just that… extraordinary. It allows one to find whatever modality whether ancient or modern that will help them achieve their inner harmony. Once inside the home you can feel the love it was built with and designed by it’s beautiful owner and creator, Inannya. She has gently placed everything in the home with intent and meaning so that you get a sense of balance, freedom, comfort and safety. Inside the home you will not only find some of the guest rooms, meditation room and library but also the Apothecary which has the most comforting and calming aromas you could ever dream of where you can make teas for any ailment or condition. And of course the kitchen which houses our world class vegan chefs who have me in complete awe with their diverse and delicious cuisine that is carefully created for the most nutrient dense food on the earth. Simply divine!” … Melissa
“In my experience, Aja is a place that reminds the heart and body what happens when spiritual and artistic vision manifests as reality, what wellness is, why super foods, rest, luxury, nature, mindful simplicity and ritual belong in our every day patterns of community and personal engagement with life. The visual sense is the first to awaken to the insular atmosphere of Aja, the eclectic blend of symbols, forms, flora, landscape and architecture. And there is always more to notice, to become aware of, gradually, at every scale. The mind begins to dance, to chuckle. But if one is sensitive then the vibratory character of the land quickly becomes a presence. Intrinsic to that vibration is the soundscape, my first favorite aspect of the grounds wherein sweet musical sounds permeate every lush garden, mingling with natures many voices.
If one is so fortunate to stay or attend an Aja ceremony or event that includes tea or foods, typically from the rich biodynamic orchards and garden, then the inner nourishment continues as a celebration of flavors and healing. There is so much more to praise if I chose to, especially Aja’s amazing Spa design. My own offering includes a regimen of Qigong somatic meditation compiled uniquely to energize each chakra. At other times I attend to the biodynamic calendar by providing nutrient rich compost tea born of earth and subtle cosmic forces to keep the landscape soil optimal and fertile all year long. I believe magickal places in the world act as a beacon of resonance across time and space. If they exceed our imagination until we catch up to it, until our new sense of normal is heavenly, all the better. For me, Aja is such a place.” … Ron
